Data & sources

Maindraw's rules engine, free tools and guides are built on published professional-tennis practice-desk guidance. We transcribe the rules faithfully and never invent figures, citations or statistics.

What we use

  • ATP / WTA Practice Booking Guidelines: booking window, 60-minute slots, peak-hour partner rules, doubles court-sharing, the 5-tier priority order, and top-player accommodation caps by draw size (96→16, 56/48→8, 32/28→4).
  • ATP Practice Courts & Bookings standards: court availability staging by category, practice-desk requirements, and staffing minimums (phone lines, dedicated WhatsApp, Masters 1000 desk manager).
  • ITF circuit control-desk best practice (ITF World Tennis Tour M15–W100, Challengers CH50–CH175): 1-hour shared practice sessions, 30–45 minute match warm-ups, qualifying-over-main-draw priority, and the ball/water/consumables planning figures.
  • Open player data: player names, countries, dates of birth and photos come from Wikidata (public-domain, CC0) and Wikimedia Commons, with short bios from Wikipedia. This powers the player-search autocomplete and profile photos, no third-party data licence required.
  • Live tour data: live scores, results, draws, order of play and rankings for ATP & WTA main-tour events come from a public live sports-data feed. It is fetched on demand and cached (not scraped on a timer), shown exactly as published, and sits behind a swappable adapter so a licensed provider can replace it. Challenger, WTA 125 and ITF events (such as M25 / W35) have no free feed, so their draws and order of play come in by forwarding the official email to a dedicated address, an optional best-effort read of the public schedule, or a paste, all tied to the roster. See the live data and full coverage on the live tour page.

What we don't do

  • We don't fabricate court-count minimums. The court-demand tool is a transparent planning estimate, clearly labelled. The tours publish the category minimums you must confirm.
  • We don't invent live scores or order-of-play. They come from a public live feed (shown as-is) or your uploaded data; when neither is available the platform shows an explicit "awaiting data" or "unavailable" state rather than guessing.
  • We don't claim affiliation. Maindraw is independent and not endorsed by the ATP, WTA or ITF.

Tour policies change and individual tournaments may set their own rules. Always confirm with the relevant Supervisor or Tour Manager. Questions: hello@maindraw.ai.
